Deborah has 20 years’ experience in science publishing and healthcare communications having worked as Advertising Director and Head of Business Development for publishers Current Science and Elsevier Science and subsequently worked at head of marketing at De Facto Communications before founding Sciad Communications and Sciad Newswire.

Focusing on the most up-to-date digital technologies and utilising the latest design software, Alex is head of Technical for Sciad Newswire.

Juliette Craggs

PR & Digital Executive

Juliette is a graduate of the University of Sheffield with a first class masters degree in Chemistry. Juliette’s role at Sciad includes client PR and media liaison, social media management, content marketing and press release distribution. She is also involved in SEO, digital marketing and website management. Her previous experience includes social media management for Numbermix, web content and communications for Avison Young UK and writing for Resonance, the University of Sheffield chemistry department magazine.

Maria Patey

Communications Director

15 years experience leading Global, European and UK communications programmes, to build the reputation of companies, people and brands. Maria’s career started supporting early-stage life science companies, bursting with innovative science, but little time to invest in being recognised and heard! Branding, thought leadership, message development and stakeholder engagement, topped with a sprinkling of media savvy outreach, has carved out an ownable space for the businesses Maria has worked with, raising their profile and creating more opportunities to demonstrate expertise, build reputation and increase awareness.

Sarah Harrison

Sarah has had a long career in science publishing. She managed the publication of a bi-monthly science review journal for publishers Current Science and then went on to commission and produce a wide range of books and journals for the Biochemical Society. As a project manager for Blackwell Healthcare Communications and Avenue HKM, Sarah also gained extensive experience working for clients in the pharmaceutical industry, including GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi and Janssen Pharmaceutica.

Sarah has a degree in biochemistry from Sussex University and has over 12 years’ experience in the science publishing industry.

Paula Burton

Project Director

Paula has over 25 years’ experience in marketing and communications roles, having specialised in the management and higher education sectors. Paula has worked on projects across the marketing mix, including website development, media relations, market research and reputation management.  Since 2005, she has worked in the veterinary and life sciences arena, having led marketing for the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and its business incubator, the London BioScience Innovation Centre.n 2014, Paula joined the team at the University of Surrey’s new School of Veterinary Medicine, working to establish the school as a key player in the sector.

Paula has joined the Sciad team as Project Director, to help coordinate, support and manage clients’ projects across all areas of her expertise.

Emily Blythe

Emily has more than ten years’ experience in the education sector, she is fluent in French and German, having studied both at Southampton and London Universities.
